Computer Requirements for the NinjaTrader Platform
To run NinjaTrader on a computer, it needs to meet the following minimum requirements:
Type of machine: For actual trading with real money, use a desktop over a laptop or mobile device.
Laptops are tuned for energy saving and not for maximum CPU performance. Avoid any mobile devices and mobile apps. It is all marketing for newbies. Professionals do not use laptops or mobile devices for trading.
Processor: 64-bit processor.
Frequency: The more Ghz frequency - the better. 1 Ghz is the minimum; aim for 2 Ghz or more.
Intel processor vs Ryzen processor:
For NinjaTrader, a Ryzen processor from AMD is generally considered a better choice than an Intel processor due to its higher core count and thread count, which can be beneficial for running multiple charts and indicators simultaneously, especially if you are a heavy user with many complex strategies running;
Number of CPU cores: - is essential to running NinjaTrader charts. The more CPU cores there are, the better. For optimal performance, consider one Instrument for one core. For example, opening 10 charts with 10 different instruments recommended at least 12 CPU cores ( keeping two for other apps).
RAM: at least 16 Mbps or more. Ninja uses a lot of RAM. Get 32 Mbt and forget about worrying.
Most users are recommended to have at least 16GB of RAM for optimal performance, especially when running complex strategies or utilizing features like tick replay, which can be more memory intensive.
Screen resolution: 1024 x 768. Higher-resolution and large screens require higher-performance computers.
Graphics card: GPU is not used for NinjaTrading Charts. Most traders record their trading experience and use video cards for gaming and video production. Minimum Ge-Force RTX from Nvidia 3060. Since NVIDIA released the 5060 - 5090 series, we recommend the 4060-4070 or 4080 series.
Hard drive: SSD hard drive.
Monitor: I do not recommend using wide-screen monitors because they limit how many charts you can position in a column. We do not recommend using curved monitors. Getting a smart TV can be cheaper than a monitor. There is no reason to buy the most expensive gamer curved monitor. LG smart TVs are made for gamers and great for NinjaTrader charts.
